Compare like for like
Use the same dates, guest ages, occupancy and room type for each comparison. A cheaper non-refundable room is a different product from a flexible rate with breakfast.
Inspect the total
Look for taxes, mandatory property charges, cleaning fees and deposits. A refundable deposit is different from a fee, but it still affects the money you need available.
Read cancellation precisely
Check the cancellation deadline, its time zone and the amount payable afterwards. Free cancellation may apply only until a specific date. Save the conditions for your chosen rate.
Check payment timing
Identify who collects payment and when. Some properties collect locally; others require advance payment. Use the final provider checkout to confirm the amount and currency before agreeing.
