Where to base yourself
Build your days around a few nearby sights rather than crossing the city repeatedly. When comparing hotels, inspect the nearest useful transport connection, not just the distance to the Eiffel Tower.
Le Marais
A walkable base for independent shops and cafés. Compare room sizes and street-facing windows before choosing a small central hotel.
Saint-Germain
A good starting point for a Left Bank itinerary. Decide whether being close to galleries matters more than extra room space.
Around a major station
Practical for a rail arrival, but check the exact street and walking route. A station name alone does not describe the neighbourhood.
Before choosing your room
Ask about lifts, air conditioning and luggage storage. In older buildings, room layouts and access can vary considerably.
Make a useful hotel shortlist
Compare the same travel dates and guest details across your shortlisted properties. Read recent room-specific feedback, inspect the total price and save the cancellation terms before paying. A destination guide cannot confirm the condition or availability of an individual hotel.
Our area descriptions are general planning guidance, not hotel inspections or endorsements. Confirm current transport, local conditions and property facilities before travelling.
